Early Morning in the valley

The elk rut of 2013 is gearing up in the Boxly Valley , these photos of  the "Junk Yard Dog" were made in the second week of October. In these photos he is scraping his horns on the  bushes and charging them. He stops often to  bugle and check on his herd he is gathering.

Some places and moments you never forget.

This photograph was taken at Ponca, Arkansas in the fall. I remember the excitement and the  piercing stare once he heard the first shutter close and then the second shot (this photo). He was accompanied by three females and one was bobtail. A special time and place for me.
