Christmas Day

Today I have spent here in my cave watching the birds on Christmas day, first Christmas in thirty years with no Santa, family or humans around. Just wife and two pups and the birds outside my cave window. I treated the birds to fresh fruit for the special day, they have enjoyed it along with the suet and sunflower seeds. The day has been different but I have enjoyed the company.

Outside the temperature has remained at the 38 degree mark and very cloudy. I would like to be on the Cossatot River today looking for the eagles and good photo op's.

 I stopped for a moment and could almost hear a stream flowing over the river rocks and down the mountain.

Simple

  I know that people believe me to be strange for wanting to alter my life- style. I have had more than my share of society and the falsehoods (“something that does not correspond with the known or observable facts”) that is always attached to their lives.

  I have learned that I prefer the simple ways of living, times as we spent this past Saturday with the beauty and time together. When I am confined here in the midst of all the things I dislike about the world I live in, I become an ass to live with. I like to look out and see what God made and not what man claims he built better.

  The river was beautiful this past weekend; we experienced fog, mist, warm, cold, clouds and sun. We did not photograph an eagle one; however, we enjoyed the coffee as we watched the weather change and the water flow by. We talked about happy things and no phone rang with orders or special deals from some Hindu I could not understand.

  Life was given to us to enjoy a specific amount of time here, it was not meant to be used in unhappy situations and in ways only to please others. We started to streamline our work then our lives. We never stopped and it is a requirement or “habit” now. We have no time for looking and listening to the gift we were placed here to enjoy. Humans think they have and can improve what god touched! (“something that does not correspond with the known or observable facts”)

Made the trip to the Cossatot yesterday , no eagle photos, flying to high. The wind was furious and the temps started dropping around noon. Had an array of weather, fog early, warmer, mist then COLD. Did find another OLD Church abandoned far up in the hills.

Waiting on sunrise

Anxious for sunrise in the morning, plan to go North and be on the Cossatot early to photograph the Bald Eagles of Arkansas.

Snow is in the forecast for tonight, if it happens I will be on the Cossatot river early tomorrow searching for Bald Eagles to photograph. This is not an eagle but it has grace.

Today sitting here watching the birds at one of my feeders I started to reminisce of only a few weeks ago and how quickly nature changes, but never disappointing me.
