Nature Happenings:
I spent the weekend and the past friday in the Boxley Valley photographing wildlife. On Saturday I was lucky and found the largest bull elk in the valley. He is hard to locate and stays pretty secluded. After this experience we went up a very sttep and ruff mountain backroad and lucked out again. We located three wolves and got great photographs. Great time in the Boston Mountains.
Daily activities of an East Texas nature photographer and nature lover.I have a need for nature, solitude and simplicity in life..The music of being out in nature is cure for the happenings in a world full of drama. These photographs are from all of my "Walden Ponds"! swamps, and mountains;

Rambling the back roads with a GPS has become a favorite way to find the unseen and unphotographed treasures of the backwoods. This barn was found somewhere between Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas.

When I let myself wander in nature I am always amazed at the beauty I find. The "Old Well Shed and the New Spider Lilly's" were off the beaten path and hidden from the public. It was passed by people looking down but not seeing, listening and not hearing.

Hot and dry
I took a short trip into Arkansas this past weekend to find some wildlife and solitude. I found it too hot and dry and the souls that were out were not nature lovers but rude "Cabela Cowboys" these are the ones that show up driving fast, hike fast and throw their beer cans on the ground after they show their strength and mentality by smashing the can.
I was able to find one coyote and one deer, the coyote was in a dead run and the deer was at a distance. I will plan on waiting until a cool front and rain falls.

It seems that the kites have started making their move to the tropics, this morning I only viewed one.
I thought the threat of thunderstorms may have hindered their morning feeding, however, the sun is now shinning and still no kites. I sure hate to see them leave, it is like an old friend leaving.

Photo; Gator Hole
I love the excitement in finding a new gator hole and a new gator. This one shares this hole with a blunt tail I photographed earlier this summer.

"Buck on the Run"
I missed two photographs in the woods and wondered if he had come out of the woods around the curve, he did and I only got the butt shot.

Have you ever watched a spider or an insect? You should try it sometime, hours of pleasure that cost nothing. It can be boring, if you want it to be, but it can be a learning experience also. I would much rather watch an insect than listen to the moans and groans of someone with plastic thoughts. Look at the beauty in this insect, looks like someone took pains in painting it, someone did, God

Photo: "Gator Reflections" for the day
A day for sunning and catching insects, we watched this gator for a long while as he would leave his mouth opes and insects would go to his toung and the jaws would shut.
PHOTO: "View from Heaven"
Going through my older photographs I found this old memory "View from Heaven". It is looking down on my favorite river the "Mulberry", a place where beautiful butterflies and bear roam free. A place where the river sings beautiful tunes as it flows through the rocks. A place the Great Spirit speaks if we listen.

Photo: "Beauty of the Swamp"
I can see beauty in all of God's creations, the mountains and the swamps fascinate me. I love the creatures of both places and never tire of searching and photographing them. Both places offer seclusion and solitude from a world of phony people and situations.
PHOTO: "The Thoreau Way"
The scenery I would love to awaken to each morning. My dreams would continue from the nights sleep and there would be no phony performances to witness and listen too. I would and do care little about how much money one may or may not claim possession of, I care little of how smart one THINKS they are, the ones that advertise their intelligence. Family I have found to be debatable as to loyalty, dependability and trustworthiness. It has become evident that some friends are more family than friend and enemies are better than some family.

Photos: Swamping Again
Went to the swamps today, we had a good rain last night and I thought with the cooler temperature it would be good wildlife weather. I found this young gator in a hole that has been empty of gators for the past two years, it is where I found my first gator about ten years ago. This one is not a happy one and slides off into the bush. I found more large gators, many deer with fawns. The only people observed was as we were leaving I talked with a warden that wanted to know if we found any wildlife and what kind. Great day.

PHOTO: Beauty and the Beast
The media has placed a stigma on some creatures such as the gator. All of Gods creations have some kind of beauty no matter how vicious or tame. This "Big Dude" is bothering no one, however, some would see it as a threat, I see it as unbridled beauty. Quite and peaceful surroundings untouched by the brains of humans.

"Swamping"
It was hot yesterday here in the swamp, the gators have been scarce the past few weeks and yesterday was the same. Finally around 3:00 p.m. we found this young one hidden way back in solitude. Look to the left rear at the large turtle.

Small World
Today I wished for the mountains of Boxley, the elk and the Buffalo River. I decided to do as I always do when the natural world is calling (which it does more these days).I went to my wildflower gardens and searched for critters of the "Small World". I find relaxation and mind cleansing time with the tiny critters. The humanoids leave my thoughts and for a time I find peace and solitude. The photos in the previous post are fresh from my wildflower gardens, please enjoy them.
